"War Talk" is a sequence of prints depicting freeze frames of propaganda footage mostly of WW l, WW ll and of the Cold War. The original images were taken from various Internet video archives such as:
http://www.archive.org/details/movies
http://video.google.com/nara.html.
To attain print size, better contrast, and for the controversial purpose of "embellishment", they were digitally enlarged, enhanced and colored, original scratches and stains, however, remain.
Each image or frame is subtitled with small excerpts of war speeches, letters etc. by famous rulers and notorious warmongers. (The entire text - or at least major parts of it - can be read by clicking on the link beneath the thumbs.) Some of the main sources were:
http://killeenroos.com/link/ww1.html,
http://www.lib.byu.edu/~rdh/wwi/papers.html,
http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/avalon.htm,
http://www.historyplace.com
To emphasize the sequential character of the images they should be aligned vertically in groups of two or (better) three, and according to the content of the subtitles.
The specifications apply to each print:
Fine Art Inkjet Print, Diasec, 108 x 135 cm, 42 ½ x 53 in, edition of 3.
