Postcards from Africa
Postcards from Africa
The vivid memories of a trip to southern Africa resurface time and again, overlapping in unexpected ways. In hindsight, the meaning of these stored images shifts rapidly. Some fade from their original documentary context into a limbo of disinterest, lingering in the dreary forecourt of oblivion. Others, however, gain new significance, becoming imbued with unexpected meaning. The postcards serve as records of these transformations — ambivalent messages of self-reassurance, addressed to the sender.
